Corner of Fisher and New Streets
White building seen is the post office.
The lot here has been empty as far back as
I can recall. Harrigan Court's playground
borders this lot and post office.
2008

This was my attempt to make a record of the buildings now standing
in Frederiksted, St. Croix. I walked from street to street, taking photos of everything
I saw. I walked the streets running north to south and when I got to an intersection,
I took photos of the buildings on the streets running east to west. I began my trek on Mars Hill, behind Harrigan Court and ended with Strand Street.

This was done in 2008 but I don't have the exact date I started the project.
Some photos have an August 2008 date while others have a September or November date. Photos were taken during the various trips I made to give updated information.

Mars Hill, Behind Harrigan Court
Looking north to New Street
2008

Left to right, then down.
1. Ritter's property. Was once a night club - Smalls and Sheridan. Which came first?
Could have had other names.
2. Baptist Church. Previously lower down in Peña´s property. House can be seen in photo.
Pastor Buba (Bubba?) always invited us in no matter how we were dressed.
3. Intersection is at Fisher and New Streets. Peña´s place is on right side. Yellow building after pink house was apartments and office(s).
4. Just a sunset taken many years later, 2010 to be exact. Just needed to fill in the spot.

East Street
From St. Croix 20 and 21, of old site.

Queen Cross looking towards East Street. When I was growing up in F´sted, there was a wooden one-story structure that was divided into apartments on this lot. Maude lived in one of the apartments.

Can you see the Baobab tree?

The "new" convent. I was moved here from Prince and Hill Streets, right next to cemetery.

Here it is, the Baobab tree.
It will appear in other photos.

Part of the convent now retreat center.
Does center still exist in 2022?

PERFECTION IS ACHIEVED NOT WHEN THERE IS NOTHING MORE
TO ADD, BUT WHEN THERE IS NOTHING LEFT TO TAKE AWAY.
(This came with the template. I liked it so I left it.)

See the pump? I cannot recall anyone ever using this well, when we lived on Queen Cross Street. However, I do remember using the faucet on Queen Cross Street close to Prince Street.

Why no photos of the south side of Custom House Street?
They will appear as part of Hospital Street. Don't ask me why.
