On August 26, 2023, I decided to play tourist again!! This time, I visited the National September 11 Memorial and Museum. Though I have been in the area many times, I have never had the urge to visit the Memorial/Museum. Don't ask me why.

The museum is impressive!! Taking photos is allowed except in the Historical Exhibit. In the Historical Exhibit, there are artifacts collected during the clean-up of the World Trade Center area and/or donated by family members of those deceased on 9/11. There are many personal items - shoes, hats, clothes, photos, etc. In various locations videos and audios are played explaining what took place that dreadful day!! There is even a display showing the airports where the planes departed from and their respective routes.

Entering the museum, one has to go through scanners similar to that before boarding the ferry for Liberty/Ellis Islands and at airports. Shoes do not have to be removed.

Price for Senior? $27.00. Regular general admission is $33.00. It is worth it!
A copy of the ticket is above. Naturally, there is a gift shop and a "snack" bar, the Atrium Terrace. Very limited in what can be purchased.

Below are the photos I took with my Galaxy S23 Ultra. Photos taken inside the Memorial/Museum and the surrounding area outside.

God help us all !!!

This photo is of a purple Morning Glory on my terrace. Photo taken 08/25/2023.
Due to the beauty, I decided to post it here.

The Historical Exhibition

The Exhibit was impressive. Sad.
As you can see, lower left corner, "No photography is permitted..."

The Construction Ramp
In the background, one can see part of the enclosed ramp that connected the World Trade Center to the World Financial Center, which appears above the bedrock on the right side.

Explanation. Don't know if you can make it out.
I suppose you can Google "Koenig Sphere".

If you look closely, you can see a reflection

On my way home: sunset in Queens.
Photo taken from 95-25 Queens Blvd, August 26, 2023

Where were you on September 11, 2001?

I had a medical appointment at 91-31 Queens Blvd that day. While in the waiting room, there was a lot of commotion in the rear of the office. We were invited to the back of the office where there were a few TVs. I could not believe my eyes!! The subway was shut down so I could not get to work. At the time I worked on 57th Street in Manhattan. The place where I enjoyed many free summer concerts, shopping, and just hanging out had been destroyed. Unbelievable!! If I am not mistaken, there was a mayoral primary election this day.
