This is the statue that stood facing the Queen Mary Highway (Centerline Road) on the St. Joseph's High School Campus.
When I began attending St. Joe's, I think there were 9 buildings. The one you can see clearly in this photo was the administration offices and the library. For a while it was also used as a cafeteria.
When it rained heavily most, if not all, of the classrooms leaked. We would have pails all over the rooms collecting water.
The buildings were connected by a sidewalk in the shape of an octagon.
Eventually a gym was built on the western part of the campus. The cafeteria was moved to the same building. The cafeteria/gym was destroyed by a hurricane.
Unfortunately, this statue did not survive. It was not destroyed by a hurricane, it was vandalized. A sign now stands in its place.
