A soccer field

The dome car.
Side reads, "Rio Chagres".

Passengers waiting to get onboard.
We were seated in the dome car.

The ticket for the dome train ride
Train took us from Colón back to Balboa

Back of the ticket

Cover of the box the snack came in.
We all thought the box cover was colorful.
Railway still used to move cargo from one end of the Canal to the other, especially now with the drought in the area.

12-12-2023

The ticket we paid for included a snack.
This is it: Pringles, raisins, Oreo cookies, a hard candy and ?. Can't recall.

Bridge we had previously driven over to take photos

A closer view

Tree stumps appearing in Gatun Lake

The Carnival Glory???

More stumps

Seven Seas Splendor

Back of Seven Seas Splendor

Bus that took us to train and then back to ship.
Better than tour buses in NY.

I hired a taxi to take me to Casco Antiguo
(Old Quarter). See photo on right for name
of cathedral.

La Antigua. Built 1688 to 1796.

On the other side of cathedral. Plaza.
Preparations being made for Christmas.

Another building in the plaza area.
Reminded me of Old San Juan.

The façade of the Cathedral
The movie "Plaza Catedral" (2021) was filmed around this area.

A closer view of front of cathedral.

Sign close to where I was picked up/dropped off by the taxi. Shadows of taxi driver and myself. Was explaining how to use camera.

Me in front of the sign.
Photo taken y taxi driver.
Taxi driver's shadow visible.

Another view of me in front of the Panamá sign

Back on the pier. By the way, since the area is under construction, a bus shuttle had to be taken on/off the pier. Photo taken by a security guard.

There are coins in Panama but not paper currency. Why? They use the American dollar as currency. However, they still mint coins. Here is front and back of one of the coins. "Un cuarto de Balboa", a quarter of a Balboa. Exchange? 1 for 1.

A certificate given to the passengers.
I finally made it across the Panamá Canal, from the Atlantic/Caribbean side to the Pacific!!

12/12/2023

The pier. The building at the end will be a mall.
Still under construction.

Circles on the structure were created by camera.
The mall will be huge once completed.

Sunset

A view similar to one on left.

Before leaving the guard who took the photo of me wished me the best. I yelled back "Gracias por todo, Juan." His response, "De nada, Jorge."

Though the Marina had a time to leave port, I think they left as all passengers were back onboard.

Sunset continues
