Various businesses to the east of Citi Field. They were here for many years but now don't "look" good next to the "new" stadium. City is trying to get the businesses to leave in order to develop the area.



The City struggled to get these businesses gone to construct a development. As of August 23, 2020, most of the businesses gone. Have not gone to the area in a long time.

New York State Pavilion - 09/16/2009







The roof of the Pavilion once featured colorful plexiglass tiles.


The floor of the 1964 New York State Pavilion consisted of a terrazzo map of New York. For many years most of the map was still visible. An incredible site. The map contained the major highways of New York State.


A few years ago, I read that the tiles were being restored. I don't know if it was ever done or if the tiles are still in the Pavilion. The Pavilion has been declared a state landmark.


After years of neglect, the entrances to the Pavilion were closed to the public to safeguard the few tiles that remained and to avoid possible accidents.

In this area once stood a swimming pool that featured aquatic shows during the Worlds Fair.
Snacks sold. Boats and bikes can be rented on left of this structure.

Here once stood a building which housed a swimming pool, the Aquacade. It was a public pool until 1978. It closed permanently in 1982 due to arsonists and vandals. It was demolished in 1996. Aquacade was used in both World Fairs.
